Alison E. Blackwell, Associate Attorney at the Law Offices of Clifton Black, PC and former Senior Deputy Public Defender with the Colorado State Public Defender, Arapahoe Office. Alison is a Colorado Springs citizen that grew up in the Black Forest area and graduated from high school in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Alison earned her Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Biology at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs before earning her Juris Doctorate at the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law. During her time as a law student, Alison was the Editor in Chief of the DU Criminal Law Review and the director of judging with the DU Student Trial Lawyers Association. She was also a student attorney with the Colorado State Public Defenders Office before joining the agency full time as a Public Defender.

Known as the “DUI Guru” at the Public Defender’s office, Alison fiercely represented her clients in the felony division of the 18th Judicial District Court of Colorado. Alison has advocated on behalf of her clients in an assortment of criminal charges including DUI, Domestic Violence, drug charges, sexual assault, and first-chaired homicide cases, including juvenile homicide. As a Senior Deputy Public Defender, Alison fought for the best plea deal for her clients, challenged questionable evidence, won an interlocutory appeal in the Court of Appeals that has been published, and tirelessly negotiated with the District Attorney’s Office fighting for the rights of her clients. Alison is an experienced trial attorney and passionate litigator while representing thousands of clients with criminal charges.

Alison is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, El Paso County Bar Association, and Colorado Criminal Defense Bar. In her free time, Alison enjoys spending time outside hiking and going on walks, attending comedy shows, and traveling with family and friends.
